Finally reading

Now that Aerya is signing a lot more she has developed a greater interest in books. Everyday she will grab a book off of her shelf and bring it to me to read it to her. I'll point to an animal and she will make the sign for it. For the few animals that she can't make the sign for (cat and cow) she'll make their sound instead. Each day we probably read about 15 books, though it's often the same 3 or 4 many, many times.

Aerya's Puppy

Now that Aerya is walking, she has a bit of a tendency to wander off, so we bought her this Puppy leash that she wears whenever we're out. She really doesn't mind it at all and it sure gives me peace of mind. Here she is also enjoying one of her absolute favorite toys: my cell phone.

Another Visit to Chilliwack.

Aerya, my mom and I went for a visit to Chilliwack this month. It was Aerya's second plane trip and she did fabulously!

We had a great visit with GreatGrandma, Uncle Pat and all the other relatives there. Aerya just loves to be around people.

Every morning as soon as Aerya woke up she would run to Grandma's patio door and bang on it until someone let her outside. She would spend hours outside checking out the trees, grass, dandilions and critters. We'd then take at least one, but usually two walks to the Ducks and Geese park which is just beautiful. We watch the ducks swimming and the turtles sunning themselves and then if Aerya was still awake, she'd have a swing ride and a little run around.

Everytime we go back I just love it more and more there. I'm so glad that I'm able to share this wonderful place with Aerya.

Aerya at Ten Months

Aerya is walking like crazy now, and since we bought her first pair of runners, she’s doing exactly that. Sometimes her feet move faster than the rest of her though and she takes a tumble. However, she usually just laughs it off and crawls back up again for another round.

Aerya makes the sign for milk when she wants to nurse and tells us she’s done eating when she shakes her head while holding her hands in front of her face to stop the spoon. While she will eat baby food, she much prefers big people food and actually eats whatever we’re having. She loves all finger foods, especially fruit and cheese. She has gotten two more teeth on the top this month which help to chomp through her snacks.

We’re still swimming and Aerya is really enjoying it. She splashes around and kicks her legs to propel her boat around the pool. She’s exhibiting a bit of separation anxiety and cries whenever I park her to swim lengths on my own. She’ll stop as soon as I’m within two strokes of her boat again so I tend to keep her close by.

Aerya does this really cute thing where she’ll lay down on the floor and cuddle a pillow, we then say Ahh, and she’ll smile. Then she springs back up and then down again, followed by another Ahh, another smile and so on. She also shakes her head back and forth like crazy and laughs. It’s really silly, but super cute to watch. And if she does it when she’s standing, her whole body shakes!

Feeding the Duckies!

We went to Hawrelak Park this weekend to feed the ducks. Aerya just loved this. She watched me toss a couple of pieces of bread into the water for them and then she took a couple of pieces and threw them as well. She then sampled a couple of pieces - just to make sure it was a good brand of duck bread of course.

Aerya kept on trying to run right into the water to get a closer look (or touch) at the ducks. As you can see, we had to keep a pretty tight reign on her after that.

Besides the ducks, we also had a visit from a very cute little beaver. He was much more skiddish than the ducks who would even come and eat bread right from Aerya's hand.

I can't wait for us to go back again soon. This definately means a trip to the zoo is in order!

Football

Aerya and I went to watch one of Derek's football practices. Aerya has decided that she can go out for the team herself, but I think she'd make a better mascot. Either way, we wish the team good luck this year!

My New Shades

Check out Aerya's brand new glasses. She thinks it's absolutely hilarious when we put them on her. And as a bonus, she'll actually keep them on for a while!
