VIDEOS

I have just learned that you can now add videos to the blog postings. I'll soon be adding some in reverse chronological order, so now is a great time for everyone to revisit Aerya's previous postings. I mean really, she's just so darn cute. You can't just see them once!

Just so cute

B.C. Trip Part 4 - Stanley Park

Aerya loved all of the time she spent outdoors in BC, but Stanley Park was extra special because she had her first ocean experience.

We spent just over an hour at the beach and Aerya loved to tiptoe into the water, then run back onto the sand. She also had a great time picking up shells and seaweed.

B.C. Trip Part 3 - Our Vancouver Hotel

Aerya had a great time exploring the hotel. It was just perfect for her with it's long empty hallways and ever flowing toilet paper.
And the best thing was finding TWO phones in the room! Aerya loves to use the phone, and as you hear, it's always Daddy on the other end.

B.C. Trip Part 2 - The Aquarium

Aerya enjoyed the aquarium, but there really wasn't enough animal intereaction for her. She did get to take home a new friend though.

B.C. Trip - Part 1: On our way...

Here we are flying to BC. It really wasn't Aerya we needed to keep an eye on, Christine had a tendency to wander off so we kept her on a short (puppy) leash. Aerya, is of course an old pro at flying so she was even giving the flight attendants lessons on how to do their jobs! And yes, even 30000 feet in the air, Aerya can find Treehouse on TV.

Calgary Part 3 - The Zoo

The purpose of our trip to Calgary was to take the kidlets to the zoo. And boy, am I ever glad we did. The Calgary Zoo kicks the Valley Zoo's butt! There are tons and tons of animals to see. We actually saw EVERYTHING in the zoo (though it was a real quick tour of dinoland) and it only took 7.5 hours!

Aerya's favorite exhibit was the piranhas. She loved to watch them swim and trace their path with her fingers. We'd move onto another exhibit and she'd just run back to the piranhas!
After having seen the tigers, we went into the strategically placed tiger gift shop and Aerya ran to the display with the stuffed tigers and grabbed as many as she could fit in her arms (quite a few actually). She then ran right for the auto doors and out to Derek. Thankfully, the salespeople thought she was hilarious so they weren't calling the Zoo Police on us! Once she was caught we compromized on one tiger and an elephant cup.
Aerya's second favorite animal was the wolves. She thought they were puppies, so she kept on trying to get into their cage. Not such a good idea. I'm sure I saw one of them licking their lips!
Other highlights of the zoo were the gigantic pickles on sticks, the icecream, and the butterflies. Aerya also enjoyed the anteaters, the hippos, anything that looked like a pig, and the monkeys. I have to say I can't remember spending a more enjoyable day!

Calgary - Part 2

Our first stop in Calgary was the bird sanctuary. The theory of the place is that it is home to 200 or so birds (or species, I'm not sure which). But as you can see, Aerya asks the age old question: "Now eventually you might have birds on your, on your bird tour, right?" To which the sanctuary replied "Yes, of course. Don't you see those baby ducks over there? They are the ever elusive, never seen in any other part of Canada... regular old malard babies."
That being said, it was a nice walk, the kids couldn't have cared less if there were birds or not, and we were doing something we wouldn't normally do in Edmonton.

Calgary Trip - Part 1

On our way to Calgary, we stopped off in Red Deer at a park to let the kids run around, and of course to eat lunch.
Thankfully it was a gorgeous day with lots of sunshine - and lots of shade under the trees. As you can see, Aerya was more interested in feeding Baby, then feeding herself.
She and Maddy seem to have a good time playing together, and Aerya will even share her toys (including Baby) for short stints. Believe me, that only happens with true friends!

The three hour trip to Calgary took us about five and a half hours with stops and all, but overall we had a good drive down.

Back from Vacation

Hello everyone! We are finally home after two funfilled weeks of vacation - with lots of adventures to share with you.

We spent 2 days with Ben, Nikki & Madison in Calgary visiting the Calgary Zoo. It was so much fun - Aerya loved all the animals!
We then spent 3 days in Vancouver with Chad & Christine checking out the sites and playing tourist.
And finally, we spent 7 days in Chilliwack with GreatGrandma, Uncle Pat & JR, and Grandma & Grandpa.

Stay posted for a many part exploration of all of our fun. I'll try to get them up as soon as I can, but will interperse them with current Aerya pics if it's taking me too long. You can also checkout my facebook page for video clips!
