A Visit to the Dentist

Aerya had her first 'Smile Visit' to the dentist this week. She did amazingly well! The hygenist was able to clean all her teeth without any complaints from Aerya at all. The hygenist was awesome; she showed Aerya all the tools and let her touch them before starting. Aerya even got to spray the water 'gun' on the floor!
When the dentist wanted to have a look though, Aerya was far more reluctant though. He had a super quick peek and then Aerya was having no more of him

Aerya's Third Day of Preschool

We are so, so proud of the progress that Aerya is so quickly making! She is becoming so independent and confident in herself. This week she sat on the carpet for songs and stories without me (I was in the chairs) and played with another girl during free time. They were at the playdoh station and they each made parts for the other (the girl needed eyes for her horse and I can't remember what Aerya wanted.)

At story time they read Good Night Moon and then made hats. Here's Aerya showing hers off.

Aerya's Second Day of Preschool

Aerya's second day of preschool was even better than her first! She was so excited to go, sat right on the carpet to listen to the opening songs, RAN to get a good seat for the art project...

(The night sky out of her window.)

...and then wanted to try 4 stations during the freeplay time. She was still a bit reluctant to clean up, but did it without any prompting.

It was so great to see her. She shared and took turns with the other kids, she actually sang some of the songs - with the actions, and had a blast playing parachute.

Due to a possible dental scheduling issue, I wasn't sure if I'd make it in time to take her to preschool and Mom arranged for Amber to come and take her. It turned out that I was home in time, and so both Amber and I went. Aerya thought that was "a good idea."

When asked what her favorite part of preschool was today she replied "the teacher" (which was so cute!!), and then "parachute!!!!" There was a different teacher covering today, and I have to admit I like her a lot better too. Not that there's anything wrong with the regular teacher, this one is just super duper at her job.

Parachute was great, first we played popcorn where we have to 'pop' stuff off the parachute, then we played motor boat where the kids were under the chute and we waved it down onto them slow then faster. Aerya was relaxing underneath with a huge grin on her face and she was shaking the chute with all she had during popcorn.

Can't wait to see what next week brings!

Aerya's First Day of Preschool

We enrolled Aerya in "My First Preschool" at the Y and started today. We go each Monday morning for 8 weeks.
I was a bit nervous, but Aerya was quite excited. She of course knows Daddy's school so it's not really anything new for her.

We sang songs and played with the toys. The teacher read us a book about shapes and then the kids made pictures out of shapes (to form a spaceship, incase you couldn't tell :). The shapes were precut but Aerya glued them on all by herself.

Aerya stayed right by my side for the first 20 minutes, then was willing to cross the room (for very brief periods) without me, and asked the teacher two questions all on her own.

There's 10 kids (2 or 3 year olds) in the class and 6 of them had taken the class in the fall. They all knew each other and played with each other. The 4 new kids (including Aerya) played mostly on their own, or with their Mommies.

Aerya said she had a great time and that her favorite part was playing with Mr. PotatoHead. She listened very well to the teacher, but was not thrilled when it was time to stop playing, clean up and go back for circle time. She begrudgingly did it, and without a soother as there's "no soothers allowed in the school". Or so Mommy said!

We're looking forward to next week.
