Beautiful

A visit to the Legislature Grounds on Mama's birthday.

The Backyardigans!

I can't even begin to express how much Aerya loves the Backyardigans (or "Pabooooo!" as she calls them). As soon as she wakes up in the morning, without fail, the first word out of her mouth is "Pabooooo!" She'll get you to pick her up and carry her into the hall where she'll point in the direction of the TV until you reach it. She has now learned how to open the DVD cases, open the DVD player, put the disk in right side up (one disk was sacrificed to scratch heaven while learning this), and turn on the TV. She will insatiably watch this show (and the Mission to Mars episode in particular). We have not been able to find a limit to her viewing desires.
Along with 3 DVDs, we have a CD for the car. She'll ask for "Pabo" which means song 5 (from Mission to Mars) and then 3 seconds before the end of the song, it'll be "Pabooooo!" which means "I would like to hear that song again, please." Even sometimes when we think she has fallen asleep she will wake up to mumble "Pabo" in the quietest wisper.
If we want to watch a show ourselves, she'll play by herself for a few minutes, then start demanding Pablo. If this doesn't work, she'll start turning off the TV. If that doesn't work, she'll eject the disk we're watching. And of course, when we say no, we just get the cute/innocent face which makes us smile, which makes her do it again!
Someone told me this phase will end. Right?? (We're going to Mars...)

Nomatoes

Aerya loves to pick and eat the tomatoes I grew this year. When she stepped outside, one of the first words out of her mouth was always "Nomatoes!" She'd run over and pick two and eat them. At first, we didn't limit her, we figured they were good for her. But once she'd consumed 12 in one sitting, we started to try to slow her down. She was so funny though! She'd have her 2, we'd say no more and then she'd spend most of the rest of her time outside trying to sneak back to the tree to get another. If she got by us, she'd grab one and shove it into her mouth as quickly as possible. And of course, it didn't matter to her if it was green or red.

Mowing the Lawn

Finally! Aerya starts to earn her keep!

Future Career??

Maybe Aerya will travel in Auntie Amber's footsteps and become a pilot.

BC Trip Part 7 - Going Home

It's always so hard to say goodbye. Even if it's just your Mama (who's only going to the front seat of the car.)

The plane ride home is only 1 hour, but added with the drive to the airport, and the drive home, and it's closer to 3 hours. This is such a long time for Aerya to sit, but thankfully she does play by herself for the most part. Entertaining a toddler on a confined plane can be a challenge so eventually you start doing the crazyest things like singing Home on the Range with silly lyrics. For any of you who are shocked by this, rest assured, it is 1of only 3 songs that I sing, they're only for Aerya and so far there's been minimal dancing.

BC Trip Part 6 - Cultus Lake

I have great memories of spending time at Cultus Lake when I was growing up and so each time Derek & I return to BC we visit it. Not only is it a very large lake that you can swim in, but it's surrounded by the mountains, hiking trails and beautiful scenery.

Aerya loves all of the outdoors so this was really great for her to experience. She filled her pockets with rocks at the beach, climbed quite steep hills and trails, ran around the forest floor, and sat in trees that are hundreds of years old.

BC Trip Part 5 - Building Grandma's Deck

A part of our trip was devoted to helping build (great)Grandma's new deck. As with everything else on this trip, the outdoors are central and so this was a HUGE deck project to undertake, especially in 10 days.

As you can see, Aerya put her whole heart into helping Grandpa finish the job. And the rest of us chipped in as we could.

Future Career??

I just had to throw these pics in as they're too cute to pass up. I really don't know if she's destined to be a plumber, or a rockstar, but she's got the qualities of both!
