Game on!

Aerya was fantastic at her first game! She ran so hard and got quite a few kicks at the ball.

The coaches tried to have the team go out in shifts and the rest of them would sit on the group blanket and wait for their turn. The kids are all about 3 years old, so there's a great mix of personalities.

Aerya was on the first shift, then sat off one, but was then on for the next 6 shifts straight. There were enough kids who'd had enough of the game to allow the rest to play all they wanted. By the second half of the game, we'd noticed a definate pattern of Aerya's... she would go, go, go, but then get distracted and be off in the opposite direction of the ball. What was she looking for? The goal posts!
For the Little Kickers (as her league is called), they use these florescent orange posts and Aerya loves to try to hurdle over them (unsuccessfully as they're up to her waist) and knock them over. But the name of the game is fun, and sure has a ton of it. And she will join back into the game...if you can get her attention!

Getting Ready for the Game

Here are the kids stretching and getting comfortable with the ball. Aerya has no problem with this part - she doesn't want to ever let the ball go! Our coach is great, Aerya took to her right away and listens well to her (when she's within earshot.) Whe's great at getting the kids moving and will often be found holding the hands of two kids and running them up the field towards the ball.

Soccer!

Spring has sprung and so it's time for a new sport. Soccer is one that not only Derek & I could agree on, but Aerya thought was worthy of a try too. We explained the sport to her and got her little uniform ready.

I told her that she would have to put her hair in a ponytail so that it didn't get into her eyes and she was totally fine with this. Every other day she would scream "No ponytail!" so I was quite surprised.



Needless to say, Aerya was super excited for this event. And later, when asked what number she wanted on her jersey? "1!" There's no doubt she already thinks she's a superstar!

Aren't I Pretty!

Aerya used to hate being in dresses, so I don't push the issue, but there was something going on this day, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I was shocked, as soon as she had it on, she spun and posed and called herself a pretty princess. What a difference a couple of months make.

I can't blog!

Hello all,
I'm very sorry to report that I'm currently unable to blog. Derek blew up our computer with static and the three other computers I have access to cannot upload pics. Sigh. We're hoping to remedy the situation soon.

In the meantime, a quick update.

Aerya is currently enrolled in My First Preschool, Swimming, Soccer, and Gymnastics. She's having a blast in all of them.

In preschool she is getting way more independent and approaches the teacher by herself. She loves the crafts and the songs and sings along to them all. This is the last 'sememster' that is available before she starts 'real' preschool in Sept. She is going to Les Tournesols in St. Albert, which is french immersion. She'll go Tues/Thurs mornings.

Swimming is going fabulously! Aerya will put her head underwater, can swim short distances by herself with her lifejacket and jumps into the water to Daddy. The coach has said that she can advance to the next group anytime with the 3 1/2 year olds.

Aerya's first soccer game was last Friday and it was so much fun (especially for us!!) She plays the next 5 Fridays at 6:30pm at the field next to our house. The kids are 3 and 4 year olds and absolutely adorable. They all clump together, kick the ball, run, run, run, maybe kick it again. It's so funny to watch. They play 2 20 minute periods with 8 shifts throughout. You just HAVE to come out and watch one.

Daddy and Aerya still have so much fun at Gymnastics, followed of course, by the Big Pickle store. Last class they were learning back rolls. This is the last 'semester' that Daddy will participate in. Come the fall she is in the non-parented class.
