Aerya's Goose-Egg

Aerya and Strider were playing fetch this morning. Aerya was tugging on the rope and lost the battle. She was spun around really fast, wacked into the wall head first and spun onto the floor. She only cried for a few seconds, but when I saw her forhead, there was already a bump protruding. We watched it in the mirror for the next 2 minutes and it pushed out more than 1cm! Within minutes it was dark purple, but with a cold compress we managed to bring it down to what you see in the pics.

If not for the pain she felt, it was hilarious to watch the fast action spinning Paddles!

And it gets better! She also got a black eye in the other eye and another bump above the goose-egg. I'm really worried about someone calling social services! LOL.

Aerya the Daredevil

Aerya has always wanted to do everything bigger, better, faster and has now grown into a size that really allows her to do that.
She is constantly jumping - from 3 stairs to the floor, from one couch or chair to another, into your arms (even when you're not ready or looking...). It's super fun to watch and has only resulted thus far in minor injuries (hence the bruise on her cheek - I mean who can bruise a cheek???) Gymnastics and swimming has only inspired this adventurist. The last time we were at swim lessons she ran up the stairs and slid down the big waterslide before I could get there! Derek would have freaked, but I just laughed at our Fearless Daredevil Paddles.
"I'm going to jump way down to there." And she does it each time!

Here's a new pic from the park after swimming. She jumped off the top of the slide and landed on her feet! Umm, I don't know where the pic is...I think it's at hte top of the page...

Arrrrg Matey!

Derek saw these pirate hats and swords and just had to have them for him and Aerya to play with. It's very cute to see. They even have a dragon to fight off (in the form of Strider.) As you can see, Grandad jumped into the action as well.

On the Phone

Aerya has an intense need to talk on the phone. Be forwarned, if you get a call from any of our phones (at any time of day or night) and it's just heavy breathing - rest assured, it's just Aerya. She'll also answer the phones so if no one is there when you call, just tell Aerya to get Mommy, she'll usually do it - or hang up on you!!

Waiting for the Bus

I thought it might be fun to take the bus one afternoon, so Aerya and I went out to the bus stop (and nearly missed it) and caught our local bus. We then made a connection and a short 45 minutes later were at our local grocery store (normally a 3 mintue car ride away.)
No wonder no one takes Edmonton Transit!
